Canada Day Events in Metro Vancouver
Every year on July 1, Metro Vancouver bursts into celebration with a wonderful list of Canada Day events, featuring concerts, family fun, parades, markets, and fireworks. Whether you’re heading to downtown Vancouver’s Canada Together at Canada Place, celebrating salmon and community at the Steveston Salmon Festival, or exploring the big party in Surrey, there’s something special for every family.
2026 is an extra special year too! Canada Together marks its 40th anniversary, and several events are weaving in FIFA World Cup programming since the games are in town this summer.

Celebrate Canada Day at Britannia Mine Museum. Riverbank Roses, a local folk-soul-pop duo with a vintage flair, plays three 30-minute sets from noon to 2:30 pm. The kids can enjoy bubble stations and classic games like cornhole and ring toss in between sets. Everything is included with regular museum admission.
What better way to spend Canada Day than at Canada’s largest eh’quarium? Vancouver Aquarium is throwing an all-ages after-hours Jelly Jamboree in Stanley Park with a sea lion training session, sea otter talk and feed, face painting, live music, and exclusive access to the Wet Lab, Amazon Gallery, and the new Survival of the Slowest exhibit.
Granville Island’s Canada Day celebration comes with a FIFA twist this year. Watch party gates open at 8:00 am with World Cup group matches on the giant screen. The official Canada Day ceremony runs from 12:00 to 12:50 pm in the Watch Party zone, with speeches, a giant cake cutting, live music from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, and artisan displays island-wide.
2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Canada Together! Planned collaboratively with representatives from the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, the day includes live music, a citizenship ceremony, a CN Family Zone, an Expo 86 exhibit, an Indigenous Marketplace, and food trucks along Canada Place Way.
Steveston’s 79th annual festival is one of the biggest Canada Day events. Kick off with a pancake breakfast at 8:00 am, catch the Kids Bike Parade at 9:30 am, then the full Community Parade at 10:00 am. After that it’s live music across different stages, the famous Salmon Bake, Japanese Canadian chow mein, Sammy’s Fun Zone for the little ones, and a marketplace.
The Rotary Club of Lions Gate has hosted North Vancouver’s Canada Day for over 30 years, and it’s a genuinely great family day out. Expect live music across two stages kicking off with the JP Fell Pipe Band and a kids’ play area.
A relaxed afternoon at one of Vancouver’s most beautiful parks. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy live music and fun activities for children and adults.
Burnaby runs three celebrations across the city. The daytime events are great for families with younger kids: Burnaby Village Museum has multicultural family entertainment, face painting, and carousel rides (11:00 am to 4:30 pm), and Edmonds Plaza and Park has live entertainment and activities (11:00 am to 2:30 pm). StreetFest on Central has food trucks, a family zone, and fireworks at 10:15 pm.
The largest Canada Day event in the Tri-Cities happens at Town Centre Park! The festival features an Adventure Games zone with mini golf, soccer, hockey, Eat Street for multicultural food options, live entertainment, wrapping with fireworks at 10:00 pm.
Port Coquitlam’s Canada Day spans multiple locations throughout the day. Start with the Lions Club pancake breakfast at the Community Centre (8:30 to 11:30 am, $7), try the fishing derby at Lions Park (8:00 to 11:00 am, free for kids under 10), then head to Castle Park for the main celebration with live entertainment, food vendors, a beverage garden, and fireworks after dark.
Memorial Peace Park transforms into a full-day festival with live entertainment, cultural performances, food trucks, a rock climbing wall, and family activities. This year’s programming also includes FIFA World Cup viewing, making it a fun spot for sports fans and families alike.
Surrey’s Canada Day is on of the biggest free Canada Day event running all day at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale. It features amusement rides, music stages, a beer garden, food trucks, community booths, and a spectacular fireworks show (10:15 p.m.) to close out the night.
A free, all-day waterfront celebration with live entertainment runs all afternoon and a Kids’ Zone with arts and crafts and face painting, a vendor marketplace, and fireworks at 10:15 pm.
A full day at McLeod Athletic Park with live entertainment, a Kids Zone with bouncy castles, a Family Fun Hub with face painting and mini golf, food and beverage zone, and a local artisan zone. New this year: fireworks at 10:15 pm!
Celebrate Canada Day in Abbotsford. The day starts with the annual Canada Day Parade at 11:00 am, followed by the Family Festival at Exhibition Park from 1:00 pm with a Sports Zone, a STEM Zone, and live music running all afternoon. The night wraps with fireworks at 10:00 pm.
A free, family-friendly community celebration in downtown Squamish with live music and programming throughout the day, cultural performances, music, art, food, beverage, and craft.
The City of Chilliwack is celebrating at Chilliwack Heritage Park. There will be live entertainment, food trucks, a vendor market, family friendly activities, and a spectacular drone show to close the night.
Queen’s Park is the place to be in New Westminster on July 1. The free all-ages event runs from 2:00 to 10:00 pm with live music, food trucks, family friendly activities, a beer garden, and a drone show finale after dark.

Most are! The exception on this list is Jelly Jamboree at the Vancouver Aquarium, which requires a ticket. Food, drinks, and add-ons like amusement rides or the Steveston Salmon Bake cost extra at the free events too.
Burnaby, Surrey, White Rock, the Township of Langley, Abbotsford, and Port Coquitlam all have fireworks this year. Vancouver’s downtown harbour fireworks were permanently discontinued, so Canada Together at Canada Place wraps up before dark.
