Join the Gulf of Georgia Cannery on Monday, February 17th to celebrate the wide range of families—animals and humans, who depend on the fishes that were canned here! In connection with Heritage Week 2025’s theme “Pastimes in Past Times”, learn about traditional ways, past and present, that salmon and herring have been prepared by families. Share your traditional recipe or cooking pastime! Keen to learn how canning was done? Explore the lives of families working along the Canning Line with readings of My Monster Cannery, and join a family-friendly tour of our Canning Line for a step-by-step experience! Finally, visit the updated Cannery Kids Corner to spin our Salmon Web of Life wheel and discover how families of bears, orcas, eagles, and more live off of the fishes in our waters.
