Harrison Hot Springs Gifted Experience from Tourism Harrison River Valley, Sandpiper Resort and Harrison Eco Tours. All opinions are my own.
Each Fall, our family will drive two hours from Vancouver to visit Harrison Hot Springs for a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Join us as we recount our mini adventure where natural beauty meets family-friendly activities.
Thanks to the comfortable cabin that we were staying in, we slept in and took our time to get ready for the day. We wanted to relax and take it easy before getting ready for the Eagle Viewing Trail which is approximately a 20 minute walk from the cabin. Eagle Viewing Trail leads up to a waterfront gazebo where we saw numerous eagles soaring and perched on trees! It’s an extremely easy trail as we saw several families with younger children enjoying it on our way there.
After the trail, we enjoyed our breakfast at River’s Edge Clubhouse in Sandpiper Resort. We ordered:
They were all delicious and everyone enjoyed the dishes they ordered.

We drove down to Harrison Village, which was a 20 minutes drive from the resort. We took a stroll around Harrison Lake and checked out all the lovely decorations for Lights by the Lake. The kids walked around the beach and played on the playground. Their playground has always been one of my favourite spots as it’s against such a beautiful backdrop.
Each time we’re in Harrison, we always drop by Muddy Waters Café. We stumbled upon this gem a few years ago, and we’ve been dining there ever since. Our favourites are their sandwiches and soup of the day.

Bald Eagle Viewing Boat Tour with Harrison Eco Tours
We embarked on a Bald Eagle Viewing Boat Tour with Harrison Eco Tours and it proved to be a truly memorable family experience. As the boat left the dock on Harrison Lake, we were treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Our knowledgeable guide from Harrison Eco Tours provided fascinating insights into the local ecosystem and where to look for flying salmon, sea otters and eagles. As we glided through the waters on Harrison Lake, we saw bald eagles soaring overhead and perched in the treetops. We were lucky enough to also spot salmon and sea otters swimming in the water. After the tour, the kids told us that this was among their favourite moments of our getaway.
The kids enjoy making a stop at Rocky Mountain Chocolate to grab some caramel apples and treats. This has become a tradition, and the kids look forward to eating them as desserts later in the evening.
As the sky got darker, we strolled around the lake, enjoying the glow of the festive lights. Lights By The Lake, will run from Saturday November 18th, 2023 until Monday January 8th, 2024. This is our second year checking out the light display over the lake.
We had dinner back at Sandpiper Resort, River’s Edge Clubhouse. We loved the holiday ambience in the restaurant. The service and food was great! We ordered:
