Carousel Theatre for Young People presents I Am William / Je Suis William, February 13-18, 2024, co-presented with Théâtre la Seizième

Carousel Theatre for Young People and Théâtre la Seizième co-present the west coast premiere of  I Am William / Je Suis William, at Granville Island’s Waterfront Theatre (1412 Cartwright St), from February 13-18, 2024. Set in the 16th century, this playful and charming reimagining of the origin of Shakespeare’s world famous canon follows the ambitions of Margaret Shakespeare – a budding young writer and sister to William, an aspiring thespian. Through lighthearted comedy, dance, and poetic fancy, both young and adult audiences will be inspired to break free from society’s expectations to pursue their dreams. A theatre le Clou Production, this work is recommended for ages 10+ and is presented in both English and French. English performances: Feb. 14-15 & 17-18. French performances: Feb. 13 & 16.

From Factory to Family – Family Day at the Cannery

Come visit the Gulf of Georgia Cannery this Family Day and learn all about how the fish in our oceans make their way to the tables of families everywhere! Take part in one of two guided tours available throughout the day and learn about life at the Cannery at a reading of My Monster Cannery. Stop in at the Cannery Kids Corner to share your Fish Tale, or craft a recipe card to share a family recipe involving fish or seafood!

Mini Mud Monsters at Britannia Mine Museum

Spring Break at the Britannia Mine Museum just got a little dirtier, but don’t worry, a little dirt never hurt anyone! Join us for an exciting adventure as we dive into the world of ‘Mini Mud Monsters‘ at our Terra Lab STEAM learning space.

From March 18th to 28th, Sundays through Thursdays, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., come and explore our special educational programming led by our enthusiastic interpreters. Delve into the fascinating realm of environmental remediation, where we’ll uncover the vital lessons learned from Britannia Mine’s battle against acid rock drainage.

Discover how rainwater’s interaction with oxygen and exposed minerals can lead to this natural occurrence, and learn about the innovative solutions employed to mitigate its effects. Our ‘Live in the Lab: Mini Mud Monsters’ drop-in sessions promise fun for the whole family, as we combine hands-on activities with engaging lessons on sustainability and stewardship.
