LIST OF THINGS TO PREPARE FOR BLUEBERRY PICKING:

  • Comfortable clothing: Wear lightweight, breathable clothes suitable for the weather conditions. Consider long sleeves and pants to protect your skin from scratches or bug bites.
  • Sturdy footwear: Opt for closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction, as you’ll be walking on uneven terrain. Avoid sandals or open-toe shoes to protect your feet.
  • Sun protection: Apply sunscreen generously before heading out and bring a hat and sunglasses to shield yourself from the sun’s rays. It’s also a good idea to have a lightweight, long-sleeved shirt for additional sun protection.
  • Insect repellent: Depending on the time of year and location, mosquitoes or other insects might be present. Carry insect repellent to prevent bites.
  • Containers or baskets: Bring containers, such as baskets or buckets, to hold your freshly picked blueberries. Make sure they have enough space and are sturdy enough to carry the weight of the berries.
  • Water and snacks: Stay hydrated by bringing an ample supply of water. Consider packing some snacks to keep your energy levels up during the picking session.
  • Cash or payment method: Some farms may require cash for payment, so it’s a good idea to bring some along. Alternatively, check if the farm accepts credit or debit cards.
  • Garden gloves: Optional but helpful, especially if you prefer to protect your hands from dirt, scratches, or thorns while picking.

Remember to check the specific guidelines and requirements of the farm you plan to visit, as they may have additional recommendations or regulations for visitors.
