“Did you know that eating fish for Lunar New Year brings prosperity for the year to come? Preparing the fish whole, from head to tail, is meant to ensure a good start and finish to the year! To learn more of these traditions in a fun, playful way, bring your whole family to Gateway Theatre for a joyful experience listening to a live reading of Bun Fun New Year (繽紛新年) – a humorous tale of Bunnifer and Bunnithy as they prepare a traditional Lunar New Year family feast. Welcome the Year of the Rabbit by practicing some ‘bunny dance moves’ and let your children’s imagination soar with themed craft activities we prepared for you on January 21, 2023″

Join us during January 21st and 22nd and immerse yourself with an array of performances (including Lion Dance, Guzheng and City Opera Vancouver), Arts & Crafts, activities & activations, delicious food and witness the premiere of a brand new Exhibition by Chairman Ting!”
“The concept of the Lantern City was first imagined when Coastal Lunar Lanterns received an overwhelming response and more artists expressed their desire to take part. Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, the plan was to introduce community lanterns in 2021 that would be displayed around town and feature artists to reflect our city’s diversity. The plan is always about engaging artists who don’t always celebrate the LNY but are passionate about sharing their stories with one of the most important Asian traditions.
In 2022, we are excited to welcome Granville Island to the Lantern City family with Forever Young at Ocean Art Works. The community lanterns, We are a family, will be presented at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square, north of the Vancouver Art Gallery.”
Museum of Surrey is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit by hosting a Lunar New Year celebration on their opening day on February 4, 2023, from 1pm-4pm. The free community event will offer performances and activities including a Dragon Dance by Chinese Village Club, lantern making, paper cutting, calligraphy, face painting, a short film and more.
“Celebrate Lunar New Year at the Library with crafts, stories and puppet shows!”
