The Britannia Mine Museum offers an immersive journey through an iconic National Historic Site, where passionate, friendly historic interpreters bring history to life. Explore a range of exhibits, guided tours, and the award-winning, multi-sensory experience BOOM! on the breathtaking ground level of the historic Mill No. 3 building. Learn about minerals, the copper extraction process and what life was like back in the day as the mill building is brought back to life though special effects, state-of-the-art technology, multiple screens, and over thirty speakers!

Ready for an adventure? 

Grab a hard hat and join a guided tour into the historic mine. Feel the rumble of the mine train as it takes you into the tunnel, then explore its chambers on foot while uncovering fascinating stories of Britannia’s mining past. But Britannia wasn’t just about copper – gold was discovered here too, and visitors still have the chance to strike it rich!! Every visitor can try their hand at gold panning – and if you find some it’s yours to keep.

Celebrate 50 years of the Britannia Mine Museum!

To mark the museum’s 50th anniversary, we’re launching a limited-time summer exhibit that dives into the history of the Britannia Copper Mine, its legacy, and the transformation into the Britannia Mine Museum. This special exhibit will showcase the people, events, and milestones that shaped this iconic site into the treasure it is today. Join us in commemorating this remarkable milestone and discover more about the museum’s journey through captivating displays and stories. The exhibit will run from May 17th until September.
